District Heating Rollout – Greve Phase 1
District Heating Rollout – Greve Phase 1
- Role: Consultant
- Scope: 29 km of main and distribution pipelines and more than 1,000 customer connections with approximately 30 km of associated service connections
- Client: Greve District Heating
- Contractors: Gorm Hansen, Bravida and JHH Entreprenør
- Period: 2023-2026
Large parts of Greve are currently supplied with natural gas. Greve District Heating, together with Norsyn, has investigated the possibilities for expanding district heating to the entire Greve Municipality.
Initially, Norsyn carried out a BBR analysis (based on the Danish national building register) in a GIS system in order to establish an overview of heat density in the different areas of the municipality. This was followed by the preparation of project proposals recommending the conversion from natural gas to district heating in several parts of Greve Municipality.
The project runs over four years, from 2023 to 2026, reflecting the scale and complexity of the work. The timeframe ensures that all phases, from planning and design to installation and commissioning, can be carried out with the necessary care and precision.
In 2022, Norsyn was awarded an 8-year framework agreement, under which design has already been completed for five areas and three EU tenders for main contractor works have been carried out in accordance with AB18 (Danish standard construction contract conditions). The first five areas comprise approximately 29 km of main pipelines.
Norsyn’s role
During the design phase, Norsyn was responsible for everything from detailed design of the pipeline network to route inspections and identification of sensitive areas. Hydraulic calculations, dimensioning and component selection were carried out in cooperation with the client, along with preparation of risk assessments, permitting plans, layout drawings for main pipelines, detailed drawings and technical descriptions. Tendering procedures were carried out as EU tenders with the possibility of negotiations.
During the construction phase, Norsyn has since 2023 been responsible for construction management, technical supervision and health and safety coordination for the first construction contracts. The tasks include schedule and cost management, follow-up on the contractor’s quality assurance, continuous budget monitoring and reporting to Greve District Heating through monthly construction accounts.
Customer installations
As part of the project, Norsyn has also been responsible for the tendering of a framework agreement for the supply and installation of district heating units. The framework agreement covers installations in the residential housing segment as well as larger customers with a heat demand of up to 250 kW. The works and deliveries were tendered as a single framework agreement, ensuring a consistent and efficient process from planning to installation.
