Køge Town Centre – District Heating Rollout
Køge Town Centre – District Heating Rollout
- Rolle: Consultant – design and site supervision
- Scope: Pipe network ranging from CU28 to DN300, heat exchanger station and building
- Client: Køge District Heating
- Contractor: Bravida
- Period: 2022-2024
Køge District Heating has been expanding its district heating network over several years. The most recent expansion was carried out under a framework agreement with Norsyn and Aarsleff as turnkey contractor. The project included both the conversion of existing natural gas customers and the establishment of individual customer connections to existing main lines.
Norsyn was also responsible for the detailed design of a temporary heat exchanger station and the architectural concept for a new permanent 18 MW heat exchanger building. The station reduces pressure and temperature between the primary and secondary networks. (See the preliminary design of the heat exchanger station).
The project mainly comprised buried piping and customer installations for both single-family homes and commercial properties. Norsyn was additionally responsible for specification and selection of units for small customers and the design of custom units for larger customers.
Norsyn's role
During the design phase, route inspections and customer visits were carried out, and agreements on the placement of service connections were concluded. Hydraulic calculations and system design were performed for both underground pipes and customer installations. Plan drawings and longitudinal profiles were prepared for the main lines. In several areas, GIS polygons were generated for the new supply zones, and pipe data were exported for use in GIS systems.
The project also involved permitting processes for heat exchanger stations and buried networks.
Norsyn was responsible for site supervision throughout execution – including the heat exchanger station, pipework, and customer connections.
