Roskilde Forsyning – Renovation of District Heating Pipelines

The assignment involved engineering consultancy for the detailed design and execution of district heating pipeline renovation in Hersegade and Stændertorvet. The existing pipelines, laid in apurit/concrete ducts, were replaced with new pre-insulated district heating pipes.
Hersegade
Hersegade is currently supplied by district heating. The existing supply lines are primarily installed in outdated apurit/concrete ducts, which required replacement. The section covers approximately 400 meters and includes around 20 service connections (approx. 300 meters) from Algade to Jernbanegade. The project also included renovation of part of the side street, Store Gråbrødrestræde.
Due to the narrow streets and proximity to older buildings in Roskilde’s historic centre, special attention was given to traffic management and structural precautions.
Stændertorvet
As part of the redevelopment of Stændertorvet square, the district heating main crossing the square was to be renovated. The section included approximately 100 meters of main pipeline and 8 service connections (approx. 100 meters), mainly installed in apurit/concrete ducts.
The task required close coordination with Roskilde Municipality to align with the master schedule for the square’s redevelopment. The work had to be completed ahead of surface renovation and in close dialogue with local users, while also ensuring safe passage for the many pedestrians.
