VEKS – Transmission Pipeline and Pumping Station

VEKS – Transmission Pipeline and Pumping Station

To support Køge Municipality’s ambition of establishing district heating, VEKS acquired the biomass-fired combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Køge. The new plant was to be connected to the existing district heating network via a new 20 km transmission pipeline between Greve and Køge, and a pumping station in Solrød.

The goal was to install the pipeline within 18 months, as early commissioning would result in significant cost savings.

Norsyn was seconded to VEKS for this project and took on project management responsibilities on their behalf – including participation in the design of the pumping station and site meetings along the pipeline corridor.

The district heating project in Køge reduces CO₂ emissions by an amount equivalent to the annual emissions of approximately 4,000 citizens and thus represents a concrete contribution by VEKS to the conversion of natural gas areas to district heating.
